Simon Usher

Simon Usher (Management Board)

Simon acted as Chairman of the Board until October 2017, when the Board asked him to step into an executive leadership role whilst the Board reflected on the appropriate strategy for the organisation going forwards. The organisation’s mission remains as valid today as the day when MADE-BY was formed, but with a rapidly changing landscape of organisations in the same space the Board wants to make sure it has the best possible strategy before appointing a new permanent leader for the team.

Simon joined the Board whilst he was CEO of Bonsucro, the global sugarcane platform. Prior to that Simon led strategy at a global level for Plan International, a child rights organisation. His career notably also includes a Sustainable Development Director role for a global corporate, serving on the UK local government’s climate change commission, and more than fifteen years international commercial experience.

A highly experienced strategist and change agent: Best described as a disruptive influence, Simon is most at home using his passion for disruptive innovation and broad understanding of all three sectors to help teams set and achieve challenging goals.
