The innovation platform Fashion for Good and online fashion retailer Zalando have announced their collaboration this week. The partnership will provide Zalando with access to Fashion for Good’s various platforms and involves the retailer in a project designed ‘to accelerate and scale sustainable innovation in the fashion industry’. “Our mission at Fashion for Good is to bring together the complete fashion ecosystem and to rethink the way fashion is designed, made, worn and re-used,” explained Katrin Ley, Managing Director at Fashion for Good. “We are very pleased to welcome Zalando, the leading online fashion platform of Europe, to our network in order to accelerate the transition to a circular fashion industry.”

“We think that the use of new technologies will increase transparency in the industry considerably,” said Dennis Hoenig-Ohnsorg, Team Lead for Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility at Zalando. “Fashion for Good is the ideal partner to develop and grow promising business models and to develop sustainable innovations. We look forward to the collaboration, to which we will bring our e-commerce know-how as an online retailer.”

Fashion for Good is an initiative of the C&A Foundation, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Amsterdam. Its Accelerator programme assists start-up innovators to source the funding and expertise they need in order to grow and is carried out by Silicon Valley accelerator Plug and Play. The Amsterdam headquarters of Fashion for Good also house other sustainable fashion organisations such as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC), Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) and MADE-BY. Other partners include Galeries Lafayette Group, Kering, Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
