Komodo are a small brand established in 1988 with a focus on ethical and organic clothing. Their production comes from Nepal, Bali and India. They became a MADE-BY partner brand in January 2008.
Social Conditions in Factories
In 2012, Komodo sourced from suppliers based in India, Nepal and Indonesia. Unfortunately, Komodo’s suppliers were unable to provide documentation that meets the requirements of MADE-BY’s verification policy, resulting in a 100% Unclassified score.
Environmental Impact of Raw Materials
In 2012, Komodo continued to use organic cotton for part of its collection accounting for the 34% Class B score. Komodo also had linen and hemp in their collection, represented by the 16% Class C score. In addition, Komodo used a small amount of recycled hemp, but as this is not in MADE-BY’s Environmental Benchmark for Fibres, it is part of the Unclassified category. Komodo also introduced Tencel®, however Komodo’s suppliers were unfortunately unable to provide documentation that meets MADE-BY’s verification policy, therefore was treated as Unclassified in their Scorecard. Other materials used include conventional cotton (Class E), wool (Class E), soya (Unclassified) and silk (Unclassified).
