Greenality joined MADE-BY at the end of 2009. They specialise in offering organic cotton printed tops for men and women. With a goal to demonstrate credibility and transparency, they made many of their styles traceable on the MADE-BY ‘Track&Trace’ system within the first half of 2010, showing their consumers the production steps and the people behind the creation of their products.
Social Conditions in Factories All Greenality’s products were manufactured at Rajlakshmi Cotton Mills (RCM), an SA8000 and Fair trade certified factory based in Calcutta, India, in 2010 (to read more about RCM, see interview on page 16 of our 2010 Annual Report). Greenality also donates €1 of each sold garment to NGO Terre des Hommes.
Environmental Impact of Raw Materials In 2010, Greenality’s collection was made with 100% certified organic cotton. This is reflected in their Environmental Scorecard with 100% Class B. Greenality’s founder, Markus Beck, attended trader meetings of Chetna Organic cotton project in Maharastra, India, further showing his commitment to the supply chain he works with and to working in close partnerships. The cotton used is Fairtrade certified and Greenality is a license holder of the TransFair (also known as Max Havelaar Fairtrade) label. Furthermore, all products in their collection were processed in an environmentally friendly way along the supply chain, with spinning, knitting, dyeing, finishing and even printing processes all complying with the GOTS environmental standard, an internationally recognised standard for sustainable processing of organically grown fibres.
