The weather determines our mood, influences our activities and ruins the best-made plans. It is estimated that around 80% of all conversations begin with a comment about the weather. Inspired by the weather, the Falcon brand was born in the Netherlands at the start of the 20th century in a small building in Amsterdam. The brand, Falcon, is named after the road where the first factory was established and also refers to the symbolic high flight and focused character of the bird. The weather still remains the company’s starting point, rain or shine, as it continues to develop weather-resistant clothing for every moment and for every type of weather. The founder of Falcon began to work with his pioneering staff to produce all weather coats that lead them, in 1929, to the introduction of the highest-quality gabardine coat ever produced. In the years that followed, the focus of the company was on the functionality of its products. But slowly fashion began to play a more prevalent role and Falcon responded by producing products that were dedicated to both functionality and style. Its performance and weatherproof collections are available in |
a variety of styles for men, women and children. They are multi-functional, highly fashionable and display their own individual sporty signature. Through expertise and craftsmanship, the Falcon name has become synonymous over the years with clothing that serves a real purpose. It has developed clothing with guaranteed functionality and quality. At the end of 2009, Falcon became a member of MADE-BY. Purchase Director Ton Wiedenhoff says: “As a company we stand for quality garments that protect people from the elements, but we also pay close attention to the quality of the production process and the care for the people that make them. MADE-BY offer us the perfect support to do this.” Along with many of their key suppliers, Falcon has moved towards improving the social circumstances across its entire supply chain. And by adapting materials and processes, the impact of its production methods on the environment has also been lowered and reduced. “Falcon stands for quality clothing,” adds Wiedenhoff, “but it also stands for a better environment.” |
